GLASS SHORTAGE IN THE BRAZILIAN MARKET

As shown in the article on Band TV (12/14/2021), the lack of glass for the beverage industry is an aggravating factor of great concern, and this is not new.

The market has been suffering from this decline in the packaging of its products due to the difficulty in recycling the raw material.

Today the process boils down to buying the virgin product, bottling it, selling it and discarding it. The only work done to reuse the glass bottle is sterilization for refilling. If the bottle is damaged, it cannot be used again.

The market is slowly migrating to PET packaging, in addition to the scarcity of glass, it becomes more viable because it is cheaper and lighter, a relevant fact for transport logistics, not to mention that after consumption, the packaging is completely recyclable.
